Taking Off the Handbrakes of Performance and Potential

One of our coaches at iAMconnected (Kylie Cloney a Health Scientist) and I were talking recently about performance and potential. I was suggesting that I want more from myself day to day. To be ON more.
Without being a dick, I think my day to day habits are pretty solid ie: effective sleep, morning meditation (objectively tracking and optimising both sleep & meditation), morning stretch routine, using tech to prime myself positively, supporting supplements, prepared quality meals, exercise 5-6 days a week, setting out my daily actions the previous evening so that I can maximise flow, being stoic about minimising distractions and interruptions, 1 hour work sprints, regular breaks… but I’m looking for more.
So… Kylie say’s to me, “before we look at what else we can add on, let’s look at what we can take away, what handbrakes can we take off, that may be locking up your vitality!” Boom. Mind blown. Of course. This opened up a world of possibilities to get gains in wellbeing, performance and potential, not by doing more, but by unlocking stuck energy.
As we grow, sh*t happens to us... and most of us haven’t been taught how to effectively process what happens. Unfortunately it’s normal to suppress emotions, overlook, dismiss, bottle up, shut down what happens as we attempt to maintain a sense of wellbeing. We all have sh*t in different shades. This becomes an energy suck that we need to manage day to day (often unconsciously), drawing on our vitality. And until we have the desire and the courage to look into these parts of ourselves and work through them, then we are limiting who we are and what we can truly become.
And what adds to the complexity of this, is that by this stage most of these blocks are now unconscious to us. We don’t know what they are!
